Attending an accredited advertising school has an importance that must not be overlooked. In advertising, an accredited status shows that the school or program was evaluated and met or exceeded the values held important advertising industry organizations and peers. This signifies the value and integrity of the advertising education being pursued, as well as its significance to the students employment.
The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC) is the only independent agency recognized to accredit Journalism & Mass Communications related programs. They provide a review or programs by industry professionals and accredit the institutions that meet their standards, giving students, parents, and advertising professionals confidence in the integrity of the education.
Along with the ACEJMC, there are six regional accrediting councils in the United States:
- New England Association of Schools and Colleges
- Western Association of Schools and Colleges
- Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
- North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
- Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools
- Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools
